RE: University of California Commission on the Future
At an emergency meeting of July 28, 2009, the Irvine Division Academic Senate Cabinet considered the University of California Commission on the Future. The Commission is proposed to consult with the entire University community to help craft the vision to best serve California in the years ahead.
The Irvine Senate agrees that this is an important effort and that “this group will make recommendations that will strengthen the University and enhance its ability to continue to contribute to California’s long-term success and prosperity.”
After discussion, the Irvine Cabinet voted in favor of the following recommendation:
• Cabinet members believe that the number of regular Senate faculty on the Commission should be increased and should represent a broad range of academic disciplines and campuses.
The Irvine Division appreciates the opportunity to comment.
